Q. WHAT ARE THE WORST KINDS OF SITUATIONS YOU'VE FACED AS AN ADVISER TO LEADERS?
I thought for a long time.
The ones that are already lost, I said. Before you even begin.
When it's just too late to do anything.
When the company is beyond hope.
When the leadership doesn't care anymore.
When many good people with families are going to be out of work soon -- and most will likely never land another position as good as this one again.
The deals where you are friends with many of the people and you know what will happen to them when the papers are signed. Where they beg you to tell them if they will have jobs... and you can't.
When it's no longer possible to get a good result because they waited too long, took too much out of the company, or didn't see the signs their industry was changing.
Those are the worst.
Those are absolutely the worst.
